in Turkey are now finding it much easier to adapt to life
in Turkey. With the ever increasing number of foreigners
choosing to settle or invest in Turkey the country has learned
very quickly on how to cater for them with all the usual
commodities easily obtainable, backed by the genuine helpfulness
of its' people. Their hospitality is second to none and
the standard of service you receive is excellent. There
are good supermarkets stocking almost anything you require
and the Turkish brands are equally as good as any European
brands, but a word of warning, named imported brands are
available but expensive.

on services which may asist you.
Electric
Services Electric bills are payable every three months. Payment
is either by automatic bank transfer or at banks specified.
Overdue bills are paid at your district Electric Department
Central Office.
Telephone The Mobile phone as in any other country has become
an indispensable part of Turkish life. You can either have
a mobile with a monthly bill, if you choose this option
your application must be signed by a Turkish Citizen, or
you can easily acquire a pay as you go sim card from one
of the mobile network suppliers. Phone Booths are easily
found and the cards to operate these can be purchased from
Local Markets or Post Office.
Home
phones are more reliable and now much easier to have installed.
You have to apply in writing to your district's Telephone
Department Central Office- not the local PTT Office. If
your home has already cables laid it can be activated in
a few days. If there are no cables you will have to wait
for an appointment for installation. Bills can be paid via
automatic bank transfer.
Water Water bills are issued every three months. They can
be paid through automatic bank transfer, at banks specified,
or at your district's Water Department General Office.
Postal
Services You will have a local postman who should deliver letters
and small packets to your door. It is a good idea to get
to know him to ensure your mail is delivered to your door
and not waiting for you to collect from the packet posta
in your town. Letters can be mailed from any PTT Office
and you can also mail Express delivery for an extra fee
which normally takes 2 to 3 days. Express courier servises
like Fedex, DHL and UPs are also available.
Transport Turkey has a very efficent and impressive coach service
with a network that spans the country and the cost of travel
by the coach services is very inexpensive.
Locally
you will find a dolmus service which are minibuses running
frequently around your local area, they are cheap and an
easy way of getting around.
Taxis Are not too expensive, standard prices should be advertised
on a board at the taxi rank. Prices increase after midnight.
